Monthly Round-Up :: July

Monthly Round-Up :: July

Well, we survived yet another big “Christmas in July” with over 3,000 Seniors enjoying our home-baked scones, Baked lunch and, of course, the always entertaining Kent Daniel.  Kent has been with us now for 27 years, and always manages to produce a great mix of humour, pathos and his voice just gets better with time, and his song choice never disappoints.  How hard must it be to get up on that stage day after day, be happy and positive, interact with the audience, and not become jaded after 30 odd shows!

We not only entertained and fed over 3,000 Seniors, but we also did the same every Saturday night for the punters who attended our “Buckin’ Country Show.  We’re so happy that we found (or they found us) Kath & Kel from “Double Deal,” the hardest working duo around.  The effort and time that they expend in producing a very professional night of Bush Dancing, ridiculous games, mechanical bull rides and just playing some really great country music, is brilliant.

Kathy has just recorded her second album in   Nashville and is soon going to be releasing a single from that album.  She is such a prolific song writer!  She can sit down and churn out a couple of songs in a matter of hours, not just lyrics, but melody as well.  That’s pretty damn clever.

Kathy has also entered  the “Coopers Country” songwriting competition with her song “They Call ‘Em Coopers”  The link to vote is http://www.cooperscountry.com.au/song.aspx?WQCODFw  Check it out, it’s pretty good.

We’ll be doing “Christmas in Winter” until the end of August, and then it’s a few weddings, and then in October, one of the best nights of the year....Oktoberfest, with “Slap, Slap Dancers” and a Bavarian Band “The Tyrollean Echoes” providing the best night of German music, dancing and we, of course, will be providing the best German food around.  Someone even commented last year that we did it better than a German club.
